American Robins are large songbirds with rounded bodies, long legs and relatively long tails. Males and females are identical, though the female’s coloring is more subdued. As ground feeders, they can be found foraging for worms, sunflower seeds, bugs and berries. Members of the thrush family, American robins have a beautiful range of songs and whistles, as well as chirps that signal that they are strong and able to mate; a pair can produce up to three broods in one year, though only 40% of nests successfully produce young.
