Lassen Volcanic National Park Traveler Pin

On May 22, 1915, a dramatic eruption at Lassen Peak launched volcanic ash more than 30,000 feet into the Northern California sky. This most violent in a multi-year series of eruptions of the Cascade Range’s southernmost volcano devastated nearby landscapes, and ash reached Winnemucca, Nevada, 200 miles distant. This park that offers visitors rare opportunities to experience geothermal features such as bubbling mud pots, boiling-hot pools and venting fumaroles also preserves pristine Sierra Nevada wilderness.
