Crater Lake National Park Milky Way Patch

The Milky Way, consisting of planets, asteroids, meteors, comets and over 200 billion stars, appears as a pale strip of light that can be seen stretched across our darkest night skies. Stargazers and photographers head to Crater Lake National Park to enjoy an evening of meteor shower watching, constellation spotting, Milky Way viewing and night sky photography. On a clear night, the stars are too numerous to count due to the remote location of the park undisturbed by light pollution of urban areas, as well as the incredible expanse of exposed horizon caused by the pre-historic collapse of Mount Mazama.
