Mount Rushmore National Memorial Traveler Patch

The genius of man and the handiwork of nature find harmony in the Black Hills. Towering above the ponderosa pine forests at this South Dakota destination are the carved-in-granite images of four prominent U.S. presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Each face is about 60 feet high. Most unforgettable is the Evening Lighting Ceremony, when the monument, blasted and carved on the mountainside between 1927 and 1941, is illuminated after a ranger program.
