Though large, they are surprisingly fast, reaching speeds up to 35 mph. Both sexes have short, curved horns that can grow up to 2 feet long. The have a simple diet mainly of grass and low lying shrubbery. Bison are constantly on the move while feeding, thereby overgrazing of an area rarely occurs.
