Carlsbad Caverns National Park Traveler Walking Stick Medallion

Almost indescribable things are underfoot at this New Mexico desert park that is home to some of the world’s largest and longest caves. The aptly named Big Room inside Carlsbad Cavern is more than 350 feet high and large enough to house six football fields. From about April to October, visitors experiencing the park’s fantastic geologic formations also can witness massive late-afternoon swarms of Brazilian free-tailed bats exiting the cavern for their nightly meal.
