Javelina

Although similar in appearance to pigs, Javelinas are actually members of the peccary family. They are found as far south as Argentina and as far north as Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Javelinas often form herds and use scent glands to mark their members and territories. Javelinas are omnivores, with the prickly pear cactus being an important source of food and water for them.
