Wind Cave National Park
It was named for the sounds made by the rushing wind at the cave entrance. Visitors to Wind Cave enjoy guided tours through a small portion of the park’s more than 140 miles of underground tunnels. The highlights of the tour may be up-close looks at the cave system’s possibly unequaled collection of honeycomb-like boxwork formations. Above ground on the near-pristine mixed-grass prairie, visitors to this South Dakota national park are likely to spot bison.
