Blackberry Lily Pin

Blackberry lily, despite its name, is actually a type of iris. Growing in clumps from spreading rhizomes with sword-shaped leaves, it sends up tall, slender stems topped with bright flowers, each blooming for just one day in mid- to late-summer. Flower colors range from yellow to orange with distinctive speckled spots, and develop into pear-shaped pods that split open to reveal shiny black “berry-like” seeds that give this flower its namesake.
