Fireweed Pin

A colorful sight along meadows, streams and forest edges, fireweed can be found abundantly at all elevations in the Northern Hemisphere. Named for the plant’s ability to grow quickly on disturbed sites, fireweed is often used for re-establishing vegetation after forest fires and oil spills. Vibrant pink and purple petals bloom on this showy wildflower that grows between 2’ - 6’ tall. Animals such as porcupine, elk, deer and bear love snacking on the fireweed’s sweet, honey-tasting flowers.
