Mountain Goats are a subalpine to alpine species found only in North America, usually staying above treeline. Both billies and nannies have beards, short tails and long black horns which contain yearly growth rings. Their cloven hooves have two toes, with rough pads that help provide grip on steep surfaces, and that spread wide to improve balance. They are agile climbers and can jump up to 12 feet in a single leap.
