Scrub Jay Pin

Scrub jays are found in open habitat, scrub woodlands & suburban areas from the intermountain West to California, with species varying slightly by region. Vocal and assertive, they are often found in flocks with a complex social hierarchy, including long-mating pairs. In warm months, they subsist on fruits and insects, and are common sites at feeders that feature sunflower seeds, peanuts and cracked corn. With an excellent spatial memory, they return to personal caches of buried seeds by the thousand in winter months.
