Turkey Vulture Head
Flying low to the ground, the turkey vulture uses its heightened ability to detect odors to find dead animals. With a wingspan of about 70 inches, it rarely flaps its wings as it soars over large areas searching for carrion. The turkey vulture often defecates on its own legs, using the evaporation of the water in the feces to cool itself down. Lacking a syrinx, they communicate in grunts and hisses.
